    Hey Greg,
If you have not made a purchase yet, have a look at this Explore Scientific 80mm ED APO Triplet Refractor - TED0806-00 - OPT Telescopes it has all the accessories you would have had to buy and a ATA case to keep it all in. I have the 127 APO and have taken some pretty good shots with it and it will ride on the Atlas without issue. You may have to get a new dovetail depending on what the mount heas is.

    Clear Skies,
    Bob

Too bad they couldnt get you an OTA to keep your eyes busy until August. Its tough to mull things over for the longest time & finally settle on a decision and then have it set back a few months. :-( As Star Rider says, the ES scopes do come in a pretty decent shipping case. I posted pictures of an unbox of one of these a few weeks ago. ES102 unbox - Astronomy Photos Pictures If you decide to wait for the Orion to come back in though, I'm certain you won't be sorry as it is truly an awesome scope from what everyone says. And the Orion nebula is still a few months away. :-) Oh, as a former UPS worker I can say this box would likely stand up to all the abuse the belts, diverters and my ex-coworkers would likely dish out. I had planned on buying a Pelican case as they are light, strong, water & cat (usually) proof.

Thanks guys. optcorp.com was great about the whole thing and have refunded my purchase price. UPS will pick the scope up on Monday. In the meantime, a local club member has graciously lent me his old ED80 so I can at least play with my Atlas mount, autoguider package and camera until the ED80T comes in. Now I just need the skies to clear

Here is my first light report on the Atlas and auto-guider using the loaner ED80.

One of our more experienced club members graciously gave up his Saturday evening to come over and instruct me in the proper procedure for setting up, balancing and aligning the Atlas. He also helped me get the auto-guider up-and-running.

    Everything worked perfectly.

My yard is surrounded by several tall trees so our list of targets was limited. We did have a great view of M13 so we chose that as my initial target.
I was able to shoot 13 240 second ISO 800 subs along with 5 darks.

Here is one of the raw lights and one of the raw darks:

    http://bradburn-family.com/astroimages/IMG_0023.CR2

I tried stacking them in DSS this morning and my first attempt yielded what appears to be a completely unusable image:

I tried again and this time chose Average instead of Median for the light stacking method and got a much better result:
    http://bradburn-family.com/astroimag...0Stacked-2.TIF

Here is the image after some quick level adjustments in DSS (I don`t own PS and am having trouble figuring out Gimp):

Here is the same image cropped:

I am looking forward to getting lots more practice learning how to get the most out of this equipment.

    Thanks for reading,

    Greg.

It's sad that your Orion CF80ED was trashed. It's GREAT that a Club Member could step in with a loaner scope (the selflessness of Amateur Astronomers is almost as important to the hobby as a cloudless night!).
    Nice image of M13 !!
It's good that you have a loaner scope, as the Summer DSOs are a Sad Thing to miss...
