    ATLANTIS MISSION TO FORTIFY FUTURE OF THE SPACE STATION

    SPIRIT'S ROVING CHANCES BLEAK, NASA FEARS

    The Jet Propulsion Laboratory on Monday will begin commanding the Mars
    rover Spirit to start backing out of the sand pit in the same tracks it
    left going into the scientifically rich location where it became stuck in
    April.

    TECHNICAL GLITCH POSTPONES COMMERCIAL ATLAS 5 ROCKET

    Friday night's launch of an Atlas 5 rocket on a commercial mission to
    deploy an international telecommunications satellite was scrubbed due to a
    technical issue. Liftoff will be delayed at least a few days, clearing the
    Eastern Range for Monday's planned liftoff of shuttle Atlantis.
