    Default Newtonian Collimation - No Tools Method



    For those newbies who got reflector telescopes for xmas
    and are wondering if the fuzzy images could be improved
    by re-aligning the mirrors, here's the updated

    When I bought my scope,there was a simple straight forward method suggested also.Long as I can evenly see the three clips holding my mirror through focuser,the secondary is alighned.Then alighn the dot on primary with the pupil of your eye in center while seeing the clips evenly.

    Would that really be good enough for photography? I'm thinking that might be good enough for just looking at stuff but I wouldn't want to just eye it like that for photographs taken with high density digital sensors.

    Mine are just for photography.

    Although it is kinda fun to hand-track Jupiter and watch it's moons wizzing round and round. Zoom-zoom.

    I could see doing more of that kinda thing if I lived at 8,000ft elevation and/or had $20k telescope.
