    Default Comet?

Can anyone tell me what comet was visible in the Arizona sky about a week
ago? Between the hours of 10PM and 2AM is was high in the east, overhead,
and high in the west. Was west/southwest of the Pleiades. First noticed
it with night vision equipment, later with binoculars.

No comets are up there bright enough to be easily seen in binoculars to my
knowledge. Must have been an unrecognized deep sky object. This is why Messier
developed his list in the first place, so that he wouldn't mistake one of these
    "imposters" for a real comet.

The gegenschein is sort of in that area now. But it's quite big and proably not noticable through binoculars...
