Default Building 8" reflector - 2" eyepiece or is 1.25" enough

Dennis, what have you found that you like in the < $100 2" eyepiece
    world?

My favorite is a 32mm Burgess... even at f/5.4

I got to use a 2inch EP once for about 2 mins, it was awesome, they guy gave
me the set of filters he had, but all mine are 1.25 ones.
And the best two I have is the UO 12mm and the 4.8 Naggler.

    We have a 42mm GSO, a 38mm Burgess, and we have had a 30mm BW-Optic. We
like the 42mm GSO a lot, but have high hopes for the 38mm Burgess. This
eyepiece has only been out once and for not very long, but we liked what we
    saw. We traded the 30mm BW-Optic to an 8" Meade LX200 owner for a 10" 1/10
wave mirror (he won it at a club raffle and doesn't want to build a scope).
We liked this eyepiece, even though the performance out toward the edge was
pretty bad. It works a lot better in his scope at f/10 than in ours at
f/5.6. Finally, our club has a 40mm Antares Erfle that does a very nice
    job.

I don't claim that a <$100 eyepiece will compare to a Nagler or a Panoptic,
but my sons and I have enjoyed many hours of viewing with the above
eyepieces and think they are very nice. Of course, others may find them
unsatisfactory, which is why it is a good idea to try before you buy. Glad
you like your Burgess - I hope we like ours as well.

Dennis, nice run down on those. I used a 2" 35mm and 38mm Rinis for
several years... quite nice, reasonably crisp, good transparency, and a
lot lighter than the usual high-end behemoths. Had a 1rpd, too, like
your BW-Optik. Crisper than the Rinis in the outer reaches at f/5.4,
more than tolerable, but heavy and no eyeguard and eye relief just not
    quite enough for glasses.

Do let us know how you like the 38mm Burgess... I've been tempted but
    they're pretty massive, right?

There is a guy we regularly observe with who preferred a UO 32mm Konig II to
our BW-Optik/1RPD because of the former's much greater eye relief. I liked
the BW-Optik better because eye relief is not a huge issue with me (don't
observe with glasses, but even if I did the eye relief was sufficient) and
the views were as good as the Konig, and I thought slightlyt better, where
    the fov overlapped (color/contrast/darker background).

Yup - 28oz. I will post when we have given it a good test.
