sun on meridian is not identical its highest daily/annual point in sky.
Dear Carter observatory,
sun on meridian is not identical its highest daily/annual point in sky.
wellington capricorn solstice query longest day.
because it's always moving in declination, drifting
north or south.
theoretically 'fixed stars' aren't either.
so the difference in maximum altitude is 1 ns nanosecond.

longest day next week.
summer solstice for nz (southern hemisphere.)
DECember 22nd at 1.42 am. ?? 1.43 am.
At that time sun will be at its most southerly
point in the sky. it will therefore reach its
maximum altitude for the year at the middle
of the day.?? from then (until winter solstice)
the days will grow progressively shorter. (daylight)
Depends on observer's longitude + latitude.
could be hours and days different for different observers.
WGTN + LHUTT CAPE STROMLO.
yours sincerely,
