Default Orion SVP (CG5 etc) Power Question + Genereal Portable Power Questions

    Hi all,

My SVP with dual-axis motors will be here shortly. I also have a 1000
Oaks "Digital Dew Heater" on the way as well. Here are my questions:
Can I hook up the mount's drives and dew zapper to an external power
source? I understand that the mount uses batteries for the drive
motors. If I can use an external source, are there any suggestions as
to what a good portable power source product I should look at? Would
the Orion Dynamo (" 7-amp-hour battery with dual 12V DC "cigarette
lighter" output ports - 10 amps max., plus 3V, 6V, and 9V DC male pin
jack outputs - 1 amp max.") be underpowered? At $56.95 it looks
attractive. On the other end of the scale is the Kendrick Power Packs
    at ( 12v 18AH battery
with charger and padded carry bag) at $184. Over powered? Are there
other power packs I should be looking at.

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

I've never powered my EQ4 off anything but the D cell battery pack (the
batteries last quite well, but it doesn't get really cold down here either).
I've heard from folks who have that the drive is surprisingly power-hungry, but
I'd think your 1amp 6 volt souce would be OK.
