    Hi,

I can only think of 2. First is that everything started from nothing with big bang- Evolution.

Second that everything was created from a Devine origin - God.

You need to choose which to believe i guess.

Personally i can’t see how anything can start from nothing.. And there is too much power up there at play which all works precisely to be just by chance.
But this is a can of worms you have opened up. You will have a lot of theories coming your way

That's a touchy subject, depending on your beliefs. Probably not the right forum for such a discussion, as some folks are very emotional about their beliefs. I've got no problem with it, but others may. Good Luck.

It is indeed a very tricky one. If we assume the big bang happened (as that's the best current theory and matches most of the evidence), then the real questions are:

    1. What caused it
    2. What came before

Whatever caused it and came before, you eventually get to the point where everything was created ('something from nothing') or discover that it always existed (but why and how?)

I think this question is actually nothing to do with religion at all, because 'god' doesn't answer these questions in the slightest. You can get round the whole issue of 'something from nothing' by saying a god created the universe, and before the universe there was only god. But where did the god come from, and what came before? You're back to exactly the same answer: either it was always there, or it was created from nothing. We're still left with the original questions.

The current thinking on the subject is that what, if anything, came before the big bang is not only unknown but very likely unknowable. That includes causes, if any.

Well as long as the can has been opened I will give my opinion. There was a big bang and GOD caused it.

Just a little reminder to others - or anyone who may come along in the future...
Religion is prohibited here as a topic for discussion (along with politics).

For the very reason that Lee mentioned.
People can get very emotional if their own belief system (or political standpoint) receives criticism, or dismissal.
On internet forums, these subjects invariably become a 'hot-potato' - and can even become VERY personal.
Over the years I've seen some real 'train-wreck' threads when opposing religious (or political) views have clashed.

Please avoid further religious discussion, or posts may have to be removed.

    The big bang ---

1st it has NOTHING to do with evolution.

2nd does not postulate about what came before--- or before time and space began. It actually should be called the Expanding Universe Theory-- which is a more appropriate name.

There are other Theories that do postulate -- such as Brane Theory, and even Super String Theory.
